This list just goes to show that there’s no limit to what anime character body hair is truly capable of. Including all types of hair in all sorts of places, whether it be commanding their hair to grab a weapon, throw a punch, or cast a magical spell, these characters with shapeshifting, exploding, hard-hitting hair are truly frightening to face in combat.
Jiraiya from Naruto basically uses his hair to become a giant, deadly hedgehog. He is able to grow and manipulate his hair with the “Wild Lion’s Mane Technique” and, to make his hair even more menacing, he’s able to use the “Hair Needle Senbon” to send chakra shooting through his hair, turning it into hardened needles that are perfect for launching as individual needles or as giant hair spheres. When in Sage Mode, he is able to keep a constant supply of hair coming, giving him tons of ammo for a relentless hair attack.
Flare Corona from Fairy Tail is a member of the Raven Tail Guild who is practically a sadist when it comes to fighting with her Crimson Hair. Flare has a seemingly endless supply of long, red hair, which she can easily manipulate the length of. Not only can she use magic attacks like “Hair Shower: Firefly Flame” to rain explosions of hair on her targets, she can even use it to stop bullets.
The nano-machines inside the body of Golden Darkness (also known as Yami), from To Love-Ru, give her the awesome power of hair manipulation. She can lengthen her hair on command and can transform it into pretty much any object she desires, like blades, hammers, fists, and even more bizarre objects like fully functional puppets.
Kumadori is an antagonist in One Piece who uses his long pink mane to bind and attack his targets. As his number-one weapon of choice, he uses his hair to grab and choke his way through enemies and even forms it into the shape of hands to throw in some brutal punches. His hair is so strong that if Chopper didn’t come in to save the day during a fight, Nami would have been killed by it.
Eve from Black Cat has shapeshifting abilities that allow her to use her hair as whatever weapon she chooses. Mainly, she likes to turn it into hammers, but she’s been known to use a variety of other blunt and spiky objects like fists, quills, and boxing-match bells.
In Soul Eater Not!, Shaula Gorgon wields a large braid that acts as a giant stinger. Even though she isn’t able to extend it, it’s still a deadly weapon that’s long enough to be a frightening adversary in close quarters combat.
The adorable Niche of Letter Bee fights and grabs with her long, golden hair that she keeps in two big pigtails. When she fights, her hair can transform into six giant golden swords, earning it the name “The Golden Sword.” She can also use it to carry and wield large objects.
Not only does Sunny from Toriko have hair which resembles that of a magical unicorn, he also has hair that can punch, cut, and impale his targets. Each color strand has a different ability, allowing him to detect temperature, pressure, painful stimuli, and, of course, battle. His hair is virtually indestructible, so enemies that think about cutting it as a counterattack find themselves out of luck.
The yokai Kejoro from Nurarihyon No Mago uses her long, wavy locks as a weapon to ensnare opponents. She can also stretch and grow her hair to great lengths and use it as a lasso to trap her targets. This usually allows Kubinashi to finish them off.
Akiha Tohno from Lunar Legend Tsukihime uses her hair to literally suck the life out of people. She uses her Caging Hair ability on anything in her field of vision to trap any living creature she is able to see. Her long red hair can also become a deadly weapon. Akiha can actually heat up her hair, causing an agonizing burning sensation as she fully ensnares her target and drains away their life.
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, from the anime series of the same title, has the ability to communicate with body hair in weird ways. He uses his long and squiggly nose hair to whip and kick the butts of enemies, using moves like “Fist of the Nose Hair.”
In D.Gray-Man, when the twins Jasdero and Devit perform a very strange fusion ritual, they combine to make one single entity that has an insane amount of hair. It uses its hair to stab and pierce its opponents, and it can seemingly act on its own if cut from the head.
The fourth season of Digimon, Digimon Frontier, features Korikakumon, a Digimon who can use its six long and deadly blades of hair to stab and ensnare opponents. What’s even more dangerous about its hair is that all the strands are tipped with sharp arrowheads.
This tiger-looking demon is Tora from Ushio to Tora, and his big, spiky mane is more than just for looks. He also has lightning powers that seem to come directly from his fur. But that’s not all: he can use it to grab, jab, stop bullets, and even make totally emotionless clones of people. It even doubles as a tracking device, as he’s able to track down whoever has a strand of his hair.
Shirabe Tsukiyomi from Symphogear has gear that completely plates her pigtails in armor, making them powerful robotic arms. These robotic arms are extendable and wield giant saws capable of shredding her targets.
Mino Nenki from Basilisk‘s body is covered in super-strong body hair. He uses all of his hair, including his wild nose hair, to grab, catch, pierce, and strangle targets. Not only is his hair a tough fighter, he can also use it as transportation, extending it to grab branches and swing from trees.
