Jay Z’s mom, Gloria Carter, came out as a lesbian on the rapper’s 2017 album 4:44. On the track “Smile,” both Jay Z and his mom discuss her sexuality.

Jay Z is a supporter of the LGBTQ community. He said he is proud of is mom.
When Amy Adams’s parents divorced when she was 11 years old, her mother, Kathryn Adams, became a bodybuilder and moved in with another woman, who was reportedly her lover. Adams and her siblings lived with her father after the divorce.
Robert De Niro
Robert De Niro’s father, the artist Robert De Niro, Sr., separated from the Raging Bull actor’s mother in 1946. He reportedly battled depression as he struggled with being gay in a time when gay men and women were encouraged to stay in the closet.
Jodie Foster’s mother, Evelyn Foster, was a lesbian. She reportedly raised Foster with the help of her girlfriend, who Foster referred to as her “aunt.” Foster herself officially came out as gay during her acceptance speech at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
Liza Minnelli’s father, Vincente Minnelli, was rumored to be gay. Some say that he was openly gay in New York, but in the closet in Hollywood.
50 Cent was raised by his mother who, according to the rapper, was a lesbian and a cocaine addict. She died when he was just eight years old at which point, 50 Cent went to live with his grandparents.
Judy Garland’s father, Frank Gumm, was known to seduce young men. Garland later married Vincente Minnelli, who was also rumored to be gay.
O. J. Simpson
O.J. Simpson’s father, Jimmy Lee Simpson, was a drag queen in San Francisco. He died of AIDS-related complications in 1986.
Natasha Richardson’s father, Tony Richardson, was bisexual. He died of AIDS-related complications in 1991.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star Jennifer Grey is the daughter of Joel Grey, star of Cabaret (1972). He announced that he is a “gay man” in a January 2015 interview for People.
Anne Heche’s father, Donald Joseph Heche, was gay, but he never discussed his sexuality. He sexually abused Heche when she was a young girl and died of AIDS related complications when Heche was 13 years old.

Cartoonist Alison Bechdel’s father was gay. Bechdel is openly gay and lives with her partner, Holly Rae Taylor.

Actress Dorothy Dandridge’s mother, Ruby, was a lesbian. She was in a long-term relationship with a woman named Geneva Williams.

Charles I of England’s father, King James VI of Scotland, was rumored to have had homosexual affairs throughout his life.
Author Rebecca Walker’s mother, The Color Purple author Alice Walker, is openly gay. She once had a relationship with Tracey Chapman. Rebecca herself is openly bisexual.
Scissor Sisters singer Ana Lynch’s father was gay. He died of AIDS related complications when she was a teen.
Figure skater Nicole Bobek never met her father. She was raised by her mother, Jana, and her “friend,” Joyce Barron.
MLB player Joe Valentine was raised by his mom, Deb Valentine, and her partner, Doreen Price. He never knew his father growing up. Valentine says, “It’s no different than having a mother and father. These are the two women who raised me, and they are wonderful people. It’s just not a big deal to me. Why should it be?”
